A 41-year old man is dead following an industrial accident in the Monastery Area Friday afternoon.

RCMP say the man was operating a piece of machinery when he was hit and died.

The accident occurred on the East Tracadie Road in Antigonish County.

The Hawk has learned the man was working on the new guard rail project along highway 104.

RCMP and the Department of Labour are investigating.
