Municipal councillors in Mulgrave have approved the purchase of some private property as part of their project to build a sewage treatment plant.
Councillors voted to buy the parcel of land to finish their force main project at Monday night’s monthly meeting.
After the meeting, Ralph Hadley, Mayor, told The Hawk the property is needed to achieve their long-term goal of a new sewage treatment facility.
“This is the first step, first phase,” he said. “We’ll have to look at- in a year or two, to construct a new sewer treatment plant; it’s been outdated and hydraulically overloaded.”
Hadley said employees with the town’s public works department did a great job with the new force main and guardrail.
He said they used federal and provincial funding for the project.
