Strait Regional School Board officials have honoured 10 staff members for completing the Aspiring Leaders Program.
Janice Gough, Director of Human Resources, says it’s a 14-month program; they go to a summer institute, they do workshops and mentor with school administration.
She says six of those honoured were receiving the award for the 2016 year; four were in 2017.
After Wednesday night’s regular board meeting, Gough said it’s a worthwhile investment and helps staff progress within the board.
“(We’re) really, really fortunate,” she said. “It costs money for the board, so the board funds this and supports the program, which is great; a number of the individuals in the program have already become school administrators.”
Gough says the program started a few years ago; they look forward to participating again.
