Members of Port Hawkesbury Seasonal Services say residents were very pleased with their Christmas boxes.
Joanne Macdonald, the program’s coordinator, says 126 families received boxes; they aimed to deliver 115-130 boxes, so they’re pleased with Sunday’s deliveries.
She says it makes her Christmas to be able to provide for community members.
Macdonald tells The Hawk it’s truly a community effort, with all money donated from business reps, individuals, and members of church groups and the Rotary Club.
“It keeps it going back- everything is done in this area, it’s delivered in this area,” she says. “I think it’s excellent- it puts the shopping at home, it was all shopped in the Town of Port Hawkesbury.”
Macdonald says it’s nice knowing everything on your Christmas table will be on someone else’s with these boxes.
She says residents are always very happy to receive their deliveries.
