Primary registration for students to attend a school within the Strait Regional School Board will open in a couple weeks.
Ford Rice, Superintendent, says registration is scheduled for Jan. 22; it goes until Jan. 26.
He says their last count of pre-primary students was about 117, but that only includes the eight locations with the play-based learning program.
After Wednesday night’s regular meeting, Rice said they’re looking forward to the next few weeks.
“It’s always an exciting time to really get a first glimpse of the number of children coming into primary next year,” he said. “We know, generally speaking, how many of our grade twelves will be graduating- when we look at the anticipated enrollment for next year, it gives us a better idea of where we’re going to be.”
Rice said the enrollment decline is starting to plateau- this year saw about 30 students fewer than the previous year.
