Municipal officials in Inverness Co. say they’re looking forward to working with a new chief administrative officer next month.
Betty Ann MacQuarrie, Warden, says Keith MacDonald has been announced as the hire; he’s the current president and CEO of the Cape Breton Partnership.
She says MacDonald has many attributes to help with the new role including integrity and work ethic.
MacQuarrie tells The Hawk an organizational review and strategic plan will be important pieces for staff to work on with MacDonald.
“We have a mapping for the new CAO to work with council on possibly making some changes in the way we run our municipality.”
MacQuarrie says she’s certain MacDonald will have the best interests of the municipality for every advisory role and every administrative decision.
MacDonald says the partnership has had a strong relationship with municipal officials in Inverness Co.; he has relevant experience from that time and the Cape Breton Regional Enterprise Network, so he’s familiar with some of the issues.
MacDonald says he’s looking forward to coming home.
“Growing up in Mabou, I’m very familiar with Inverness Co.- I have friends and family throughout the area,” he says. “I’ve been working in economic development for many years and have a great attachment to the area.”
MacDonald says he wants to make sure to work with constituents and support the growth of Inverness Co.
The role officially starts Feb. 26.
