At Monday night’s municipal council meeting, a Dundee resident said she lost telephone access; cell coverage is poor in the area.
She said her father is on lifeline- it didn’t work with no phone access.
Brian Marchand, Warden, said it was probably an operator error.
“A lot of the stations are totally battery backed up; some have generators, and I guess the stations out where she is they have generators,” he said. “There’s a gentleman that goes around and installs the generators; they’re portable generators from what I was told- they just keep them filled with gas, so that one must have ran out.”
Marchand said it’s a concern because many residents across the province don’t lose telephone.
He said there’s a lot of older people along that stretch of highway, and lifeline can’t do much without phone access.
Marchand said the next meeting for broadband is Thursday.
