Officials in Nova Scotia Court of Appeal have upheld a Utility and Review Board decision to remain with Nova Scotia Power reps as those who provide power to an Antigonish Co. senior’s care facility.
The May decision was appealed by town officials, who say the Antigonish Town Electrical Utility should supply power to Shannex.
Court documents indicate Shannex is near the Sisters of Saint Martha Motherhouse, a facility that gets electricity from town reps, but it’s partly in the town; and partly outside.
The term ‘vicinity’ was used as the reason behind appeal application- wording allows town reps to provide service to the “town and vicinity.”
Documents say Shannex officials preferred going with NSP reps for cost efficiency; town officials would have to install new poles.
