Municipal officials in Inverness Co. say changes are on the horizon for the council chambers.
Betty Ann MacQuarrie, Warden, says the former courtroom will have a more open and accessible layout.
She says the judge’s bench and the wooden barriers will be taken out.
After Monday’s monthly council meeting, MacQuarrie told The Hawk it will be a cleaner look for councillors.
“We’ll get rid of the tables and we’ll have desks, we’ll have microphones, we’ll have a sound system,” she says. “You’ll be able to hear us.”
MacQuarrie said the projector monitor will no longer be on the side the gallery sits on, and the far end where councillors sit will be completely renovated.
She said the changes are expected to be completed by the end of March.
