They say there’s “very little chance there will be a positive outcome,” as of a Thursday evening press conference; three crew members were rescued at about 8 p.m. Tuesday following the Fisherman’s Provider II running aground on Frying Pan Shoal.
Officials say the captain of the vessel was adamant to remain on the boat- the investigation has been taken on by RCMP as a missing persons case.
JRCC and Canadian Coast Guard officials say there’s been no communication with the captain since the other crew members were rescued, and there’s been no indication of life on the boat.
They say they’ve tried to board the vessel many times since, but conditions have not been safe to do so; they had a line secured to the vessel with a life-raft for the first 24 hours- it was not utilized.
Officials say Canadian Coast Guard members have remained as part of the investigation as an environmental response.
A team of Transportation Safety Board of Canada members were also dispatched to the call Thursday.
