Councillors in the Town of Mulgrave have joined their municipal counterparts in Guysborough by supporting fracking.
The process is currently banned in the province.
Guysborough municipal councillors voted in favour of sending a letter of support to allow fracking to Lloyd Hines, Guysborough-Eastern Shore-Tracadie MLA, cabinet ministers and Premier Stephen McNeil in January.
After February’s regular Mulgrave town council meeting, Ralph Hadley, the town’s mayor, said they’re behind the idea.
“With the technology they have today, I think there’s a good chance that we could do some fracking in areas.”
Town councillors voted to send a similar letter of support to their provincial counterparts at the meeting.
