The mayor of the Town of Port Hawkesbury says they’re beginning the first of many budget deliberation meetings.
Brenda Chisholm-Beaton says the first meeting is being held this week.
She says there’s no indication at this point as to what will happen with tax rates.
After Tuesday night’s town council meeting, Chisholm-Beaton said budget talks are always important discussions.
“We’re looking forward to looking to the future of the town,” she said. “We’re looking forward to seeing how (our budget) will be aligned with regard to our strategic directions.”
Chisholm-Beaton said Destination Reeves St., and the Pitt and Napean St. work are two of the projects they’re focusing on right now.
She said they’ll also try to be preparing for things beyond those timelines.
Chisholm-Beaton said with municipal budgets, there’s a portion of it that doesn’t have any flexibility and they have to work with that.
