The Cape Breton West Islanders have presented their annual awards.
Team officials held their year-end banquet in Port Hood Monday night; Nick MacNeil, the team’s assistant coach and a former captain of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, was the guest speaker for the event.
Stephen Fox was named the Islanders’ most valuable player, Malcolm Maceachern was playoff MVP, and Chase Ellis earned the rookie of the year award; a full list of award winners can be found below.
The Islanders, the defending Telus Cup champs, lost to Dartmouth in the fifth and deciding game of their Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League semi-final series in March.
