The mayor of Antigonish says town officials have made more steps toward finalizing their 2018-19 budget.
The town’s previous fiscal year ended Mar. 31.
After Monday night’s regular town council meeting, Laurie Boucher, the town’s mayor, said they already have their new capital budget in place.
“We wanted to concentrate on that to have that out nice and early so that our public works department were able to get the bids out for the projects nice and early, so we could hopefully secure better rates and make sure that we secure workers.”
Boucher said she’ll be disappointed if they don’t have their operating budget done before June’s regular meeting.
She said it’s too early to say what could happen with the town’s residential and commercial tax rates.
