Antigonish Co.’s warden says a new palliative care unit in the area is a beautiful facility.
Officials at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital in Antigonish started admitting patients to the new six-bed unit last week.
After Tuesday night’s monthly meeting, Owen McCarron, the county’s warden, said the unit was very well done.
“Having a facility like that in our community is critical and I think already, people have seen how it was laid out and designed,” he said. “Truly, patient and family comfort was given the highest regards as the design.”
The former nine-bed unit was spread through the hospital’s medical-surgical unit.
