One of two suspects from a First Nations community in Antigonish Co. charged with attempted murder is scheduled to return to court Wednesday.
Michael Kane, 36, of Paq’tnkek also faces counts of aggravated assault, uttering threats and several breaches.
Kane, who has been in custody since his arrest, was denied bail following a June 20 hearing.
He’s expected to have a date set for his preliminary inquiry, which will determine if there’s enough evidence to send the case to trial, in Antigonish Provincial Court.
Nigel Henderson, 27, of Paq’tnkek faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault and several breaches in the case.
Henderson, who made his first court appearance four days after the incident, will remain in custody until his bail hearing July 18.
RCMP say officers responded to an assault involving three men, who were known to one another, on a roadway in Paq’tnkek early in the morning June 14.
They say a 24-year-old Antigonish man was taken to hospital, and was released three days later.
Police say both Kane and Henderson were arrested without incident- Kane in Paq’tnkek the same day as the incident, Henderson in Baddeck the next night.
