A local athlete has been named the province’s flag bearer for the opening ceremony of the upcoming 2018 National Special Olympic Summer Games in Antigonish.
Ryan Kearney of Antigonish will carry the flag for Team Nova Scotia into the Keating Centre when the event opens July 31.
Kearney will compete in golf at the Antigonish Golf & Country Club during the games.
It’s his third appearance at the national event; he won gold in golf at the 2014 National Special Olympic Summer Games in Vancouver, and has also represented the province in soccer.
