The Paq’tnkek interchange currently under construction may be opened to the public sooner than later.
Chief Paul Prosper says they’re still in discussion about what exactly will be built at the Interchange.
Prosper tells The Hawk that the project means a lot to the community and surrounding areas.
“This is a big development for our community,” he says. “Not just for our community but the surrounding community as well.”
A gas station, coffee shop and-or restaurant, and Paq’tnkek’s relocated Entertainment Centre will be included as part of the Bayside Travel centre.
Chief P-J Prosper tells The Hawk that an Antigonish Company will be handling the final phase of the project.
“The final tender has been awarded,” he says “The successful bidder is Nova Construction and they’re in the process of completing the final work.”
Prosper says he hopes to have phase one open to the public by next summer.
