Members of the coaching staff of a new minor midget AAA hockey team in the Quad Counties are preparing for their first tryout.
The Cabot Highlanders will play in the Nova Scotia Minor Midget AAA Hockey League in the upcoming 2018-19 season.
The team, which will be based in Port Hawkesbury, will be made up of first-and-second-year midget players from the Quad Counties.
Donnie Grant, the team’s head coach, told The Hawk Morning Show the biggest unknown right now is who will try out.
“It is kind of hard with the Cape Breton West camp going on now- obviously, everybody’s goal is to make that team,” he said.” So until there is a more clear picture with Cape Breton West, then we can start finding out who’s going to come and be a part of minor midget.”
The team’s first tryout takes place at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre Aug. 29, one day later than originally scheduled due to delays with ice installation.
The season gets underway in September.
