Barb Reddick has won her first legal step in the Margaree Chase the Ace dispute.
Reddick filed a lawsuit in Nova Scotia Supreme Court in Port Hawkesbury in July.
Her lawyer, Adam Rodgers, also filed a motion for a preservation order to prevent the prize money awarded to Tyrone MacInnis from being spent or transferred; that motion was heard Aug. 10.
A judge granted the motion in a decision released in court Monday.
Two names were on the $1.2 million winning ticket July 11- Reddick’s and MacInnis’, her nephew.
She has said she only put his name on the ticket for good luck, and she wants all of the jackpot.
