The principal of the Nova Scotia Community College’s Strait Area Campus says enrolment is above target for the new school year.
Tom Gunn says there are currently roughly 565 full-time students enrolled.
Gunn tells The Hawk numbers are down slightly from 2017-18, but they’re going to have new programs in 2019-20.
“Our numbers are lower than other years because we’re refreshing programming,” he says. “Next year we have a lot of new programming coming in.”
Gunn says their marine program has strong enrolment as well, also above target.
He says they’re pleased with the numbers.
“The enrolment numbers we’re really pleased with,” he says. “We’re at 105-110 per cent of our target (for 2018-19), so we’re quite pleased.”
Gunn says a number of the programs are full, but others still have some openings.
