The Strait Area Campus of the Nova Scotia Community College has been selected for the Solar Electricity for Community Buildings Program.
The announcement was made Monday by the Minister of Energy and Mines, Derek Mombourquette.
Mombourquette says the program will give local organizations the chance to participate in, and benefit from, Nova Scotia’s progress toward a cleaner energy future.
NSCC says over the last 10 years they’ve reduced their greenhouse gas emissions by 39%, just 1% away from their 2020 goal.
They say the plan is to continue on their path, and aim for 80% reduction in emissions by 2050.
