Mayor Brenda Chisholm-Beaton says she’s disappointed in the vandalism that was happening in a Port Hawkesbury town park.
The vandalism was occurring in the bathroom in the playground park beginning in early September.
After Tuesday night’s regular monthly meeting Chisholm-Beaton said she wants people to know the park belongs everyone in the community.
“What it really is, is damaged being caused to community owned properties, that’s really what the community park is about,” she says. “If there’s a message I’d like to get out there it’s this park belongs to the community and the Strait Area.”
Chisholm-Beaton said the park was built by over 400 volunteers.
She said she thinks the vandalism comes from one or two people and says doesn’t reflect the rest of the population.
Chisholm-Beaton said it has stopped since a 4 p.m. curfew was put into place.
