Inverness Co. councillors are recognizing Mi’kmaq History Month.
At Thursday’s regular council meeting reps unveiled a Mi’kmaq History Month poster that honoured World War 1 Veterans.
The poster will hang in the council chambers and also be placed around the county.
After the meeting the county’s Chief Administrative Officer Keith MacDonald told The Hawk the poster holds a lot of meaning.
“The poster is a clear reflection on the impact Mi’kmaq citizens had during World War 1,” he says. “It commemorates veterans and the sacrifices that they made for Canada.”
MacDonald said the poster was brought to their attention by the Mi’kmaq history month committee.
He said the posters will be up for the entire month of October.
