The warden of Antigonish Co. says municipal officials will take a wait-and-see approach with newly-legalized recreational cannabis.
Officials with the federal government gave their municipal counterparts approval to adapt and develop bylaws in domains ranging from land use management- to business regulation- to public consumption.
After Tuesday’s regular council meeting, Antigonish Co. Warden Owen McCarron said they’re not going to rush anything in terms of municipal bylaws or policies.
“Our police advisory committee meet with the RCMP, they give us some thoughts on the use of cannabis, and how they’re going to do road side testing- things like that,” he says. “I think it will be a wait-and-see approach, we’ll just see how it unfolds.”
McCarron said they’ll follow provincial rules and regulations that are already in place.
