The Cape Breton West Islanders host Halifax in a pair of weekend games in the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League.
The Islanders (7-3-1) are second in the eight-team league with 15 points, four points behind Dartmouth for top spot, and a point ahead of the third-place Valley Wildcats; Halifax (4-2-1) is fifth with nine points.
It’s the first game of the season between the teams.
Puck drop at the Al MacInnis Sports Centre in Port Hood is 6 p.m.
The teams meet again in Port Hood Sunday afternoon.
The Cabot Highlanders are on home ice in the Nova Scotia Minor Midget AAA Hockey League.
They host the Valley Wildcats.
The winless Highlanders (0-7-0) are last in the eight-team league, three points back of Cape Breton for seventh; the Wildcats (3-4-0) are sixth with six points.
The teams have met once so far- the Wildcats beat the Highlanders 10-3 in the Highlanders’ season opener in September.
Puck drop at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre is 6:30 p.m.

The Novas have a pair of weekend road games against the South Shore Lumberjacks in the Nova Scotia Major Bantam Hockey League.
The Novas (3-5-0), who have lost three straight, are tied with South Shore (2-4-2) for ninth in the 12-team league with six points, a point behind East Hants for eighth, and a point ahead of 11th-place Bedford.
It’s the first game of the season between the teams.
Game time in Bridgewater is 4:30 p.m.
The teams meet again in Liverpool Sunday morning.
There are a pair of games in the Antigonish Rural League.
The Heatherton Warriors play the Pleasantdale Panthers at 7 p.m. and the County Outlaws take on the St. Croix Angels at 8:45 p.m.
Both games are at the Antigonish Arena.
The province’s two Quebec Major Junior Hockey League teams finish off their home-and-home series.
The Halifax Mooseheads host St. Andrews’ Declan Smith and the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in their home opener.
The Mooseheads won Friday night’s game between the teams in Sydney.

The StFX women’s hockey team is on home ice for the first of back-to-back AUS games.
The X-Women (3-0-1), who are ranked fourth in the country, host the St. Thomas Tommies; it’s their first game of the season against St. Thomas.

StFX visits Dalhousie in Halifax Sunday night.
The StFX soccer teams finish off their 2018 AUS regular seasons in Newfoundland.

The match at Central Fields will get underway at 11am.
The winner goes to provincials.
The StFX cross country teams are competing in the 2018 AUS championship.
The event is hosted by the Dalhousie Tigers.
The X-Men had their streak of six straight conference titles snapped by Dalhousie in 2017.
The X-Women are going for their first conference title since 2012; the Tigers have won the last five.
