Two people facing drug charges following a traffic stop in Inverness Co. have had their charter application denied.
RCMP say members of the Inverness-Richmond District Street Crime Enforcement Unit laid the charges after they stopped a car on Rte. 19 in Port Hastings in June 2017.
They say they arrested an Antigonish man and a Port Hastings woman after they seized roughly 50 grams of cocaine.
Police originally charged Gabriel Chaisson, 41, and Carol Taylor, 41, with trafficking cocaine and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
The pair, who made their first appearance in the case the day after their arrests, had a charter hearing in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court in August; the judge denied the application Tuesday.
Their trial is scheduled to resume Jan. 29.
