The league-leading Strait Pirates are on home ice in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League.
They host the Miners.
The Pirates (11-1-1), who have won six straight and seven of the last eight, lead the Sid Rowe Division- and the entire league- with 23 points, three points up on Sackville for top spot overall, and five points up on Pictou Co. for first place in the division.
The Miners (7-3-1) are fourth in the division with 15 points.
Taylor Lambke, the Pirates’ head coach, tells The Hawk it will be a tough test.
“They’re a high offensive team, they seem to have a lot of firepower up front, (and) they’ve got a lot of experience from (the 2017-18) championship team, too,” he says. “We’re going to have to prepare properly, make sure we’re ready to play defence, and make sure we’re ready to go.”
It’s the first game of the season between the teams.
Puck drop at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre is 7:30 p.m.
The Pirates play the Bulldogs in Antigonish Sunday night.
