The StFX men’s hockey team hosts the UNB Varsity Reds in AUS action.
The X-Men (7-3-2) are third in the seven-team conference with sixteen points, three points behind Saint Mary’s for second, and two points ahead of fourth-place Moncton; they’re ranked 10th in the country.
The V-Reds (10-0-2) are first with 22 points; they’re the top-ranked team in the country.
UNB snapped StFX’s six-game winning streak with an 8-1 win in Fredericton in the first game of the season between the rivals Nov. 9.
Brad Peddle, the head coach of the X-Men, tells The Hawk they have to engage, and not watch like they did last game.
“I thought we had a real good first (period) up there, back-and-forth close game- second period, they ran away with the game, we got chasing it, and couldn’t catch up,” he says. “The big thing for us is that one is over, it’s done with- now, as a group, we have a chance to respond.”
Puck drop at the Keating Centre in Antigonish is 7 p.m.
StFX hosts UPEI Saturday night.
