New tennis courts are coming to the Town of Antigonish.
Town councillors discussed two different options at November’s regular meeting Monday night.
After, Laurie Boucher, the mayor of Antigonish, said they spent $5,000 to resurface the courts at the east end of Main St. a few years ago.
Boucher said they knew it was a temporary fix, and now a long-term solution is required.
“It’s past its life expectancy,” she said. “We’re going to have to do something- either replace it, leave it where it is and replace what’s there, (or) find a new location, and maybe add some more courts.”
Boucher said they’re considering adding a pickleball court as well.
She said it won’t be ready in time for the 2019 tennis season, but they’d like to have the capital project included in their 2019-20 budget.
