The league-leading Strait Pirates are on home ice in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League.
They host the Pictou Co. Scotians.
The Pirates (14-1-1), winners of nine straight and 10 of their last 11, lead the Sid Rowe Division- and the entire league- with 29 points, seven points ahead of the second-place Scotians (11-4-0) for the division lead.
Taylor Lambke, the team’s head coach, tells The Hawk they just want to keep doing what’s made them successful so far.
“We’re trying to forecheck teams hard- we’re doing a good job of that- we’re protecting the puck in the neutral zone, and, of course, we’re playing good in our own end,” he says. “I think we just have to keep all three phases of the game going and things could keep rolling for us.”
It’s the second game of the season between the teams- the Pirates beat the Scotians 4-1 in Trenton in October.
Puck drop at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre is 7:30 p.m.
It’s the first half of a home-and-home series- the teams meet again in Trenton Sunday night.
