Heading into Christmas week an RCMP across province checkpoints turned up some encouraging results.
RCMP say they checked over 5200 vehicles at 88 locations on December first…national impaired driving enforcement day.
Less than one per cent of those checked were found to be impaired.
They say seven people were charged with impaired driving by alcohol and one person faces charges of impaired driving by drugs.
Four were issued roadside suspensions.
RCMP say they are committed to keeping impaired drivers off the roadways and urge motorists to be responsible when consuming drugs or alcohol.
