Police say a 15-year-old boy faces numerous charges after an officer was assaulted with a screwdriver in Antigonish Co.
They say officers responded to a complaint on Mugasun Rd. in Paq’tnkek at roughly 9:40 a.m. Sunday.
RCMP say an officer was speaking to the complainant when the teen returned home; he was arrested, and the officer tried to stop him from going further into the home.
They say the boy grabbed a screwdriver and tried to stab the officer; both fell to the ground, the teen reached for the officer’s pistol and stabbed him several times with the screwdriver.
Police say the officer’s body armour and winter clothing protected him.
They say the teen faces six charges- attempted murder, assault with a weapon, assaulting a peace officer, attempting to disarm a police officer, weapon possession and resisting arrest.
He appeared in Antigonish Provincial Court Monday; he’s being held in custody until his next court appearance Tuesday.
