A number of athletes and coaches from the Quad Counties are set to take part in the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alberta.
Goalie Kenzie MacPhail from Inverness is part of the men’s hockey team, Antigonish’s Matt Fraser will represent the province in boxing, and Marcus MacDonald of Antigonish will compete in freestyle skiing.
Their events take place during the first week of competition; the opening ceremonies are Friday, with events getting underway Saturday.
Antigonish’s Landyn Pitts and sisters Ella and Kara MacLean are part of the women’s hockey team; Antigonish’s Shauna Neary is on the team’s coaching staff.
Courtney MacDonald and Eriq Proctor, both from Antigonish, are competing in badminton, while Creignish Rear’s Sherri Robicheau is an archery manager.
Their events are part of week two competition.
