The Weather Network is predicting a typical La Nina Pattern, which means temperatures should track above normal in the Atlantic region.
We won’t lock into a persistent cold pattern due to extended arctic outbreaks, especially in January and February.
“A mild pattern is expected to dominate across the Maritimes this winter,” the forecaster predicts. “While there will be periods of typical winter weather, we expect a lack of persistent or severely cold weather. We also expect a less stormy pattern than what we typically see.”
The forecaster predicts we will see fewer storms and nor’easters overall.
When a winter system does strike it will likely bring a messy mix of snow, ice, and rain.
A typical year of snowfall is predicted for Halifax.
The Weather Network expects snowfall amounts will tally below normal for other parts of the region, especially near the Bay of Fundy.
Yarmouth and Moncton should also see less.
