Public Health is now sending positive COVID-19 test results through an automated email.
The initiative came into effect on Wednesday.
Nova Scotia Health says the goal is to reduce wait times for test results.
“With the significant increase of COVID-19 cases in our province, providing both positive and negative COVID-19 test results by email will remove delays in contacting individuals,” a news release says. “The email will include additional instructions from Public Health.”
When you head to a testing centre for an appointment, you’ll be asked at registration for your email, phone number, and health card number.
The goal is to send an email first.
If only a phone number is given, negative results will be delivered through an automated call. Positive results will be sent by text.
You’ll be asked to enter the last four digits of your health card number to access the details.
Remember to check your “Junk” and “Other Inbox” folders if you don’t see your results.
The emails will be sent 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
