Nova Scotia is reporting seven new COVID-19 related deaths since Friday.
Four deaths have been announced in the Halifax area, including a man in his 30s, a man in his 60s, and two women in their 80s.
A woman in her 60s, a man in his 70s, and a man in his 80s have passed away in the Northern Zone.
“Too many Nova Scotians have lost their lives because of this virus and my heart goes out to the families and loved ones left behind,” Premier Tim Houston says in a news release. “We know this virus can have devastating impacts. As we loosen restrictions, I ask Nova Scotians to be very mindful of their own health and take steps to protect yourself and those around you. Most importantly, stay home when you’re sick and follow public health advice for testing and isolation.”
Nova Scotia is also reporting six new hospital admissions and four discharges. There are now 45 people in hospital who were admitted due to COVID-19 and are receiving specialized care.
That includes 10 people in ICU. The age range of those in hospital is five to 92 years old.
Over the weekend, Nova Scotia Health Authority labs completed around 4,900 tests. 887 new cases have been reported, including 429 in the Central Zone, 174 in the Northern Zone, 133 in the Eastern Zone, and 151 in the Western Zone.
It’s estimated 1,967 cases of COVID-19 are active in Nova Scotia.
Hospital Outbreaks:
NSHA is reporting additional cases related to the outbreaks in three hospitals:
– one additional patient in a ward at Hants Community Hospital in Windsor; fewer than 10 patients have now tested positive
– one additional patient in a ward at Cape Breton Regional Hospital; 10 patients have now tested positive
– one additional patient in a separate ward at Cape Breton Regional Hospital; 12 patients have now tested positive
