A back-and-forth in Question Period yesterday in the Nova Scotia Legislature between the current and former health minister.
Yarmouth MLA and Liberal leadership candidate Zach Churchill pressed current minister Michelle Thompson about her government’s move to weekly COVID-19 case reporting.
Churchill says they aren’t sharing necessary information with the public.
“The Premier today didn’t even have the daily case count. Last night, in estimate from the Minister of Health, there are 36,000 positive rapid tests that have come in, that’s the first time anyone has heard about that,” said Churchill to the Speaker of the Legislature.
He says government needs to have the facts to make the right decisions.
“How can the government claim that they want people to make their own decisions, when they are removing restrictions and critical information to help inform those individual decisions that people are making?”
Thompson says they continue to meet with Public Health everyday, and they will continue to use weekly reporting.
She says they’re using the same information Dr. Robert Strang receives, and the epidemiology report was released this past Thursday.
