Betty’s at the Kitch is a restaurant in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia that is well known for its delicious woodfired pizzas, and recently they shared a heartwarming story about one of their new employees from Ukraine.
In their most recent “Meet a Betty” post which are done weekly to help customers learn a little bit more about the staff that serves them at the restaurant, they shared the story of Mariia, who recently traveled from Ukraine to Nova Scotia, due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
She traveled to Nova Scotia along with her mother Iryna and the owners of Betty’s helped settle them into the Mahone Bay Community. Having previously worked at a wine and pizza bar in Dubai prior to coming to Nova Scotia, Mariia was given a job at the restaurant, who say she’s been fitting in marvelously.
Over the weekend while sharing her story with one of her tables, Mariia was surprised to discover the guests had left a $500 tip on their $44 bill.
Since they posted the story on social media over the weekend it has been shared over 100 times and the comments have been flooded with people commending everyone in Nova Scotia who is helping the newly arrived Ukrainians settle in.
