Port Hawkesbury Paper has been listed as one of the Nova Scotia Innovation Hubs bioeconomy sites.
Bioeconomy sites are organizations that use lower carbon emissions and are committed to turning underutilized biomass into renewable products.
Port Hawkesbury Paper is also working with companies and researchers to assess the feasibility around their organic mill sludge to be converted into products such as biofuel.
Business Development manager Geoff Clarke Says they remain committed to building on existing operations by adding an eco-industrial business park, as well us looking into small scale hydrogen production.
The company already has some biomass material that is being converted to green energy.
