The Ed Sheeran copyright case has concluded with a not guilty verdict.
He’s was being accused of copying ‘Let’s Get It On’ by Marvin Gaye in his song ‘Thinking Out Loud.’
The family of the late Ed Townsend were the ones that sued. Ed Townsend, who died in 2003, co-wrote ‘Let’s Get It On’ with Marvin Gaye, who passed away in 1984. You can hear the 2 songs compared here.
Ed, showing his outrage for the claim, had said that he would retire from music if he was found guilty.
He gave a statement outside the courthouse yesterday after the trial. Saying in part, “I’m just a guy with a guitar who loves writing music for people to enjoy. I am not and never will allow myself to be a piggy bank for anyone to shake”
