The Municipality of Inverness County hosted a Grant Readiness Clinic to help community organizations.
They say Friday’s session in Chéticamp was to help the associations prepare to apply for provincial funding that supports local facility improvement projects.
The Culture and Community Development team led the clinic describing how these improvements matter for the whole community.
The program supports community-led projects that will improve public-use facilities, including building repairs, accessibility upgrades, and interior and exterior improvements.
The clinic was built around the province’s Community Facilities Improvement Program, which is a competitive funding program that’s offered through the Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage.
Participants each received a customized workbook to help collect and keep important project information for their organization, so it remains with the facility when volunteer boards and leadership change.
Each group will receive a one-on-one session with municipal staff that will refine their project narratives before the provincial application deadline on February 14.
Attendees represented 15 community organizations from throughout Inverness County.
