The two men who fled from police and set off an emergency alert for Antigonish County have been charged.
RCMP say they attempted to stop a pickup truck that had heavy front-end damage and an unattached Alberta licence plate in Pomquet Forks on Tuesday, January 20 after 11 a.m.
The vehicle took off down a dead-end road and crossed a river where it got stuck on the other side.
The driver and passenger then fled on foot.
An officer recognized the passenger as someone wanted for weapon offences and the driver was not known to the officer, but was believed to have a handgun.
Pictou County District RCMP, Guysborough County District RCMP, RCMP Police Dog Services, the RCMP Emergency Response Team, and a drone assisted Antigonish County District RCMP to locate the men.
One man was taken into custody by 1 p.m. and the other man was arrested by 2 p.m.
The 48-year-old driver from Heatherton is facing charges including fleeing police and dangerous operation of a vehicle.
The 33-year-old passenger from Paq’tnkek First Nation faces multiple weapon charges.
Both men were scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, January 21.
