Two former members of the X-Men football team charged following a sexual assault investigation at StFX are scheduled to return to court Monday.
Jonah Williams, 20, of Halifax has been charged with three counts of sexual assault against two different women; Tyler Ball, 19, of Truro faces a single count of sexual assault.
Both elected Nova Scotia Supreme Court judge-and-jury trials- Williams in relation to one of his alleged incidents- during an election-and-plea hearing in February; they’re expected for two-day preliminary inquiries, which will determine if there’s enough evidence to send their cases to trial, in Antigonish Provincial Court.
Williams has pleaded not guilty to his two other alleged incidents, and is scheduled to stand trial on those matters Sept. 10-11.
The pair played defensive back for StFX- Williams was in the team’s starting line-up, Ball was not.
Neither Williams nor Ball are still with the X-Men football program.
RCMP say an 18-year-old told them she was sexually assaulted on campus in November; that led a 19-year-old to come forward and report two separate cases of sexual assault on campus.
