Antigonish County municipal officials say they’ve met with their provincial counterparts to discuss a lack of flow in infrastructure funding.
Warden Owen McCarron says he and Municipal Clerk Glenn Horne met with officials with the Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal Department in Halifax recently.
After Tuesday night’s regular municipal council meeting, McCarron said they want provincial officials to get federal infrastructure funding moving.
“Our concern is the Federal Government are indicating to us that the monies are there and ready to go” he says. “Obviously the province doesn’t necessarily seem like it’s got all the pieces together ready to roll out- we have a couple shovel ready projects and we wanted to keep that on the radar.”
McCarron said they’re ready to start the North Grant water line and a water line looping project to create a back-up water source whenever funding is available.
