A number of local First Nations communities have been approved for a provincial clean energy program.
Representatives from 11 Mi’kmaw organizations in the province have been accepted to take part in the Solar Electricity for Community Buildings program.
Officials in the Paq’tnkek First Nation in Antigonish Co., Potlotek in Richmond Co., Wagmatcook in Victoria Co., and Eskasoni in Cape Breton Co. have all been approved for 72-kilowatt projects.
Provincial officials say the goal of the program is to add more clean, renewable solar energy to the grid.
