The StFX men’s hockey team is in New Brunswick for their last game before the AUS Christmas break.
They meet the Moncton Blue Eagles.
The X-Men (9-6-2), who have won two of their last three, are third in the seven-team conference with 20 points; they’re ranked 10th in the country.
It’s the fifth and final regular season between the teams; StFX has won three of the first four.
Game time is 7 p.m.
The Cape Breton West Islanders visit the South Shore Mustangs for a pair of weekend games in the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League.
The Islanders (8-9-1), losers of five in a row and six of the last seven, are fifth in the eight-team league with 17 points, two points behind Dartmouth for fourth, and three points ahead of the sixth-place Mustangs (7-11-0).
The teams have met twice so far- they split a pair of games in Port Hood in September.
Game time is 7 p.m.
They meet again in Lunenburg Sunday afternoon.
The Cabot Highlanders visit the Fundy Thunder in the Nova Scotia Minor Midget AAA Hockey League.
The Highlanders (1-12-0), with one win through their first 13 regular season games, are last in eight-team league with two points, four points back of Cape Breton for seventh.
The Thunder (6-6-0), who are sixth with 12 points, won the only other league game between the teams, 5-3 in Truro in October.
Game time is 6 p.m.
The Novas play the first of back-to-back home games in the Nova Scotia Major Bantam Hockey League.
They host the Truro Bearcats.
The Novas (6-9-1), losers of two of their last three, are 10th in the 12-team league with 13 points, two points behind East Hants and Pictou Co., the two teams tied for eighth, and two points ahead of 11th-place Bedford; Truro (10-5-0) is third with 20 points.
The teams have met once so far- the Bearcats slipped by the Novas 3-2 in Truro in September.
Puck drop at the Antigonish Arena is 7 p.m.
The Novas host the Cole Harbour Storm in Port Hawkesbury Sunday afternoon.
There are a pair of games in the Antigonish Rural League.
The Pleasantdale Panthers play the St. Croix Angels at 7 p.m., and the County Outlaws take on the Heatherton Warriors at 8:45 p.m.
Both games are at the Antigonish Arena.
St. Andrews’ Declan Smith and the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles are on home ice in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
The Screaming Eagles (15-11-2) host the Val-d’Or Foreurs.
It’s the first game of the season between the teams.
