The StFX men’s hockey team is on home ice for the first time in 2019.
They host the UPEI Panthers in AUS action.
The X-Men (9-8-2), who have lost three straight, are fifth in the seven-team conference with 20 points, a point behind Moncton for fourth, and eight points ahead of Acadia and Dalhousie, the two teams tied for sixth; the Panthers (10-7-2) are third with 22 points.
Brad Peddle, StFX’s head coach, tells The Hawk UPEI plays hard, and they’ve got a skilled forward group that can hurt you.
“We’ve got to be really smart, play disciplined, not give their (power play) any unnecessary chances, and really start to use our forecheck and start to capitalize a little bit more five-on-five by playing more of a puck-possession game with them.”
UPEI won the first game of the season between the teams 5-3 in Antigonish in November.
Puck drop at the Keating Centre in Antigonish is 7 p.m.
It’s the first of back-to-back home games for the X-Men, who host top-ranked UNB Saturday night.
