22,000 Canadians, including 1810 in Nova Scotia have recently received a test kit and survey to participate in one of the country’s largest studies aimed at identifying how many Canadians have been previously infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
The project is being conducted by Statistics Canada and supported by Canada’s COVID-19 Immunity Task Force
People who receive the kit are asked to use the enclosed supplies to take a blood sample. It then gets send to the National Microbiology Lab in Winnipeg.
The kits includes a paper for the blood sample, a finger poke needle, gloves and alcohol swabs.
The COVID-19 Immunity Task Force is aiming for at least a 45% response rate.
