A hiker on Cape Breton Island needed help last weekend.
Ingonish Beach RCMP, Parks Canada and EHS rescued a hiker from Franey Trail in the Highlands National Park.
Police received the call at 2 p.m. Sunday.
At that time officers learned that a 57-year-old woman became injured while hiking the trail and needed to be rescued.
A member of the RCMP used an ATV and entered the trail with Parks Canada employees.
RCMP were able to get partway up the trail and hiked the remainder of the way to the injured hiker.
The woman was loaded onto a back board where she was then carried down to the ATVs.
The hiker was driven out of the trail and transferred to paramedics who took over medical care.
